His philosophy remains simple yet powerful: you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it.

A Life of Service and Global Perspective

Robert’s travels shaped his passion for helping others and expanding his worldview. With the Salvation Army Service Corps, he spent months in Latin America teaching, counseling youth, and practicing his Spanish. In 1993, he prepared for another volunteer mission in Costa Rica to support social services and evangelism.

At home in the Bay Area, he worked at the YMCA with at-risk children while studying political science at San Francisco State University. “If we don’t work with other people, that’s our own ignorance,” he said—reflecting his lifelong belief in empathy and connection.
